United States: birth odds and 20 country-data indicators

Read 20 World Bank WDI reference indicators for United States, each with its year, unit and source. Game birthplace weights are separate, and averages do not determine an individual life.

How to read this page

On the United States page, GDP per person and out-of-pocket health spending should not be read as a person’s salary and medical bill. One is an aggregate average and the other a spending share, not a household cost estimate.

Use the reference values to frame a question about study, work or caring for family: how might immediate resources and longer-term hopes conflict? The game tells that trade-off with coarse rules rather than a complete model of insurance, taxation or health care.

Bring the reference back to a fictional life

These 20 measures are verifiable environmental references, not a checklist of events a character must experience. They are not all fed directly into the current game engine. One fictional life cannot represent a country, and averages do not determine a person’s lifespan, career or happiness.

The play link draws a random origin using your selected sampling method; it does not guarantee this country. Read different references, then try a random beginning. To revisit a particular decision, branch from a saved choice.
